Jody Amable is a freelance writer and editor from the Bay Area. Specializing in music, history, and cultural quirks, her work has been seen in places like KQED, No Depression, CityLab, JSTOR Daily, and Atlas Obscura. She also creates and curates written content for businesses, from start-ups to international names like Restoration Hardware and Mozilla. Previously, she was the Content Director for award-winning music nonprofit The Bay Bridged. She holds a BA in Journalism from San Francisco State University and a Master's in Media and Communications from the London College of Communication.
Outside of writing, she remains a lifelong fan of Jeopardy! and The Wizard of Oz. When she's not working she volunteers with a senior dog rescue, wanders museums, and bakes the world’s best chocolate chip cookies. Seriously — ask anyone who’s ever had them.
She's currently writing a book about the Mellotron for UNC Press, coming 2027-ish.
